Vida Nueva Supportive transitional housing for single women with children Vida Nueva provides safe and affordable housing for women who are in the early stages of recovery from substance abuse. Twenty-two 1, 2, and 3-bedroom furnished apartments provide a supportive environment for these women, and their children ages 2-10. The safety of a drug and alcohol–free community, case management services, group therapy, and peer support help the residents make a stable transition to self-reliance and self-responsibility. Vida Nueva’s environment encourages individuals to learn new behaviors, to become financially self-sufficient by working, to participate in parenting classes, learn living and self-care skills, and to take risks and responsibilities in all areas of their lives. The clients learn to make decisions that are in their own best interest and that of their children, and to take responsibility for those decisions. Staff/Supervision Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselors provide group and individual therapy and case management services on site during the day and evenings. The staff is on-call 24 hours a day for emergencies. Personal Responsibilities Residents are responsible for the care and cleaning of their apartments, all of their meals and laundry, as they would be in any living situation. Although the cost of the housing is subsidized, individuals pay rent based on their income. The women are also responsible for caring for their children, and arranging for their own day-care while they are at work. Amenities -Furnished 1, 2, & 3 bedroom

A Transitional Program for Success Living at Vida Nueva allows a client who has completed a residential treatment program to further strengthen her recovery while beginning employment and assuming greater self-responsibility. The client continues to reside in a safe, and sober environment while participating in group and individual sessions scheduled to accommodate employment. An integral part of transition treatment is developing a strong network of greater community support for recovery including 12-Step Programs. Upon completion, a client is prepared to live independently with a firm foundation for continued success in recovery. Resources For Children School-aged children of Vida Nueva residents are also eligible to participate in various supportive education programs for children provided by Compass Health Care at the St. Mary's Outpatient Center. Children are referred to these programs by Vida Nueva case managers on an as-needed basis.
