Welcome to Compass Behavioral Health Care!

Cactus FlowerAlcoholism and drug dependence are chronic illnesses that are progressive, frequently unremitting and often life threatening. In their advanced stages, they can result in dysfunction, despair, homelessness or crime. However, like other chronic but manageable illnesses, with the right treatments and services, the harm of serious addictive disorders can be dramatically reduced. Importantly, by working with families and communities, addiction can often be prevented altogether.

For more than three decades, Compass Behavioral Health Care has been a leader in quality and affordable behavioral health care in Southern Arizona. Our continuum of care begins with prevention and early intervention, and emphasizes reaching those who are most at risk and vulnerable-- Tucson children and adolescents. Acute care for adults is provided at our detoxification center, Desert Hope. Continuing treatment and stabilization services are provided at our residential centers-- the Joan E. McNamara Center for New Directions and Vida Serena. Our available outpatient services further recovery and prevent relapse for individuals, groups and families. And, because Compass believes that housing IS healthcare, permanent and transitional housing programs are provided at Safe Harbor, Libertad and Vida Nueva.

Desert MountainsCompass places special emphasis on developing programs that are not just culturally competent, but are culturally centered, and defined by the Tucson-area communities we serve. Our collaboration with the Tohono O'odham Nation has allowed us to create special and innovative residential services for Native Americans. And, because we hold that healthy mothers raise healthy children, our 22-unit transitional apartment program for women at Vida Nueva has had a 100% success rate in re-unifying children with their mothers.

Behavioral health problems are everywhere, in our schools, our families, our corporations and on our streets. They affect us all, old and young, rich and poor, native, immigrant and pioneer. When you see the need of so many who are living with chronic behavioral health problems, think of Compass first!
